Technology Studies

Technology is an elusive concept. To some it denotes the gift of material manipulation found only amongst upright walking primates with opposable thumbs. To some it's simply a term that describes any manipulation of the environment to suit the needs of an animate creature. To some it's a term that describes the lethal industrial system that over the last few hundred years has nearly choked all life on Earth to the point of death.

Rather than get caught up in the fiery debate, we choose to embrace viable solutions to vile problems. With respect to techno-enthusiasts like Buckminster Fuller and techno-dystopians like John Zerzan we're open to all perspectives and hope to provide a context for the growth of a technologically literate community.

The "tool kit" that we as individuals and groups utilize toward our unique ends is an ever evolving thing. We hope to learn from technological developments spanning the spectrum from re-used coke bottle floating islands to video games that teach kids how to gather, hunt, and survive in the wild.

Technology is not something that we can/should dogmatically discard and try to cleanse ourselves from, for whatever means we employ to even try to do that will be a form of 'technology'. Whatever direction we go, whatever step we take will be technological...Tempering that power with ethics of sustainability and equality is what we choose to focus on.
