Unfortunately while 75% of cardboard in the U.S. does get recycled, TONS of the boxes are in perfect condition. We're working with apartment buildings, realtors, environmental organizations, government agencies, big corporations, small companies, and families across the U.S. to educate the world about the value of a box. We like to say, "there's a lotta life to a box, one use ain't where it stops."

QUICK CARDBOARD FACTS:

  • The average 3 bedroom house requires about a ton of cardboard boxes.
  • It takes 17 trees to make that ton
  • That ton can take up as much as 9 cubic feet in a landfill if not recycled.
  • Recycling is in itself a energy and labor intensive process with its own environmental foot-print. The best thing we can do is extend the "life-cycle" of our forest products by re-using them.

The Gaian Mind collective makes and sells salvaged, recycled, and other types of earth-friendly arts and crafts. With the boxes we recieve that are unsellable, we create do-it-yourself recycled paper products. We're currently making bookmarks, stationary, booklet covers, bio-degradable planters, and mulch strips.

Since paper fibers bond naturally at the molecular level, there is no need for glue or other chemicals, just a blender, water, a filtration screen, and a drying rack is all thats needed.
